K2JV (Kværner and KBR Joint Venture) signed an EPC contract with APPLY Leirvik for the delivery of accommodation module called Utility and Living Quarter (ULQ). This module is part of the Johan Sverdrup platform provided by K2JV for Statoil.
The accommodation module has an area of 14,500 m2, 7 floors and 560 beds. There is a helideck, hangar and other facilities needed for the module to be “an offshore hotel”. The module is a steel / aluminum hybrid, in which levels 1-2 are built from steel and levels 3-7 are built from aluminum.
The scope of APPLY Poland included engineering activities for the aluminum part, as well as stress analysis for selected pipelines, including fire water installation.
